Yep, that's what caught me out too
The next one is fun and it's the first one that makes you feel even mildly "1337". I'm stuck on the one after that (you need to know Java). I have done the first realistic mission too, that was fun. |
I remember there being a topic on Hackthissite.org , and I didn't want to create a new one since this one already existed, so please forgive the necromancery
I spent a good part of today dinking around on hackthissite.org because I had my wisdom teeth out yesterday and I have nothing better to do. I managed to pass all ten web basic ones (hehe...had to learn SQL interjections, java script, HTML...good stuff!) and I've completed the first five realistic scenarios so far. I am thoroughly enjoying myself! :D Anyway, I just thought I would post my thoughts on this site. It's very entertaining. Those who have not yet visited it, it is very enjoyable. Also, it is a fun way to learn HTML, SQL, Javascript, etc. as opposed to just reading off a website. You get to use it in ways where you can think to yourself "w00t! I'm a computer geek! :bleh: " So yeah...I'm off to see if I can complete the next realistic scenario |
I'm gonig to re-necro this thread as I'm stuck on Basic 7 (where there is a box to type in the year whose calender you want to see). This is spoilery for people who haven't done it so I'll white this next bit out.
I've tried typing in "% kill * ls missions/basic/7" which is a UNIX command I've arrived at after a bit of tutorial reading and head scratching. The way it's supposed to work is that the "% kill *" bit ends the "cal" command and the then the "ls missions/basic/7" bit lists the directory whic hcontains the file which contaisn the password. The only problem is it's not working, I get a blank screen from it. I'm assuming my problem is to do with my syntax (which I don't know much about) or the fact that it's all on one line (I don't know how to start a new one as the return key just executes the command). EDIT: I've now tried "% kill * ; ls missions/basic/7" (added a semicolon) and I've got the message "You're on the right track, but stick to commands relevant to the challenge." |
