War Journal - 04/23/99
Finally got my first kill yesterday. I've heard all kinds of stories from veterans about how the act of killing changes you. Well, I liked it. Maybe it's different if you're pulling the trigger on another human being (perhaps I'll ask Duckpatch about that once he's out of the vat), but nailing that alien SOB was very satisfying, I gotta say. I feel a little more like I deserve these stripes now - or circles with X's in them. (What do you call those things, anyway?) I'm itching to get into another fight, and I'll have to appoint someone to take over all of this paperwork.

The food in the mess hall has gotten a lot better in the past few days - since right about the time we took out that base in the USA, in fact. Gotta find out if there's some sort of connection there.

That smell is still coming from Toxik's bunk - what the hell is that? He still hasn't said a word about it. I could pull rank on him and rifle through his stuff, but I'm not sure I want to know what I'll find. Something's got to be done, though. Maybe I'll talk to Tom - he's in the next bunk and might have seen something.

Still can't get used to men being resurrected as women and vice versa. That's real nightmare fuel.
