Starship Troopers.
Hey, Starship Troopers is a very good example of a great movie and a pretty good computer game based on a sh***y novel. :ok:

I honestly can't express how much that post appals me. The book Starship Troopers is Heinlein's greatest novel; an excellent critique on America, and one of, in my opinion, one of the greatest Utipian novels of the past century. To say that I have lived no small part of my life by an approximation of the beliefs espoused within would be no understatement. Well, I suppose I couldn't declare freedom without reading stuff like that...

Ack... Sorry 'bout that... I guess I've had one too many..!

As for Neverwinter; which I was about to post about until the last, it's an excellent engine with a terrible campaign. I advise anyone who's reading this to download some of the excellent fan-made campaigns available. (Shadowlords and Dreamcatcher are my personal favourites, and they're far better than any of the company-made levels)

To many games are created becouse of books, and the worst thing is that those games are mostly crap (sorry for language, but I don't think you'll read exactly what I have written).

Yes but great games came out of this, a single example is dune(and i don't think i need to say anything more...)

Starship Troopers is a top game! It's one of my favourites, although some of the missions take too long and/or have a massive last battle before you get away, and with no in-game saves, that's a big problem.

Dune also is a great game, and The Wheel of Time is a good game with great MP.

But back to the ranting -

On a similar note to you all I must say: I love comics (nerdy I know, but whatever) so why do films/games have to tone them down? And also, why do they choose the lame comics? Judge Dredd is a terrible film of a good comic, the game is not much better. The X-Men films are OK, but too moralistic.

What we need is a film and game combo of Rogue Trooper - He's a blue super-trooper with little microchips of his old dead friends. It's a great comic, and with a little thought could be a great film and game.

I really, really hope that New Line Cinema do a good job on the Deus Ex film, or I will lose all of my faith in them. That has the potential to be a great film, even if the did it in small parts, like part 1 - When JC is working for UNATCO and wouldn't even think of betraying them. Part 2 - The Tracer Tong years. Part 3 - The time near the end when he works for the Illuminati mainly but also Helios.

That would rock. Although succeed in being massively off-topic.

Speaking of comics, has anybody played XIII(thirteen)? I think it rocked

Oh yeah! Hmm that was a good conversion of the comic, but such games are very rare. Most of them end up being watered-down children's games. Take Spider-Man for example.

The actual comic is usually very violent, and Spider-Man's 'symbiotes' sometimes turn around on him and make him go on killing sprees etc.

The game revolves around fighting stupid enemies to get to the 'boss' characters and beating them. If you are any good at games, you can beat it in under 6 hours if you don't take breaks. It's too simple and not very good.

The game is IDIOTIC (must use upper caps).

Back to the Starcraft...

If you would like to discuss this further, I have created a new topic here, so we don't have to spam this thread with off topic posts.

Always wanted to play XIII looks like quite a game with the cel-shaded style.
