Both work perfectly with Windows 98, though.

Great game with a lot of freedom and hundreds of side quests. It is huge and it doesn't follow the book very strictly. I remember, for example, that you could keep Gandalf with you after scaping Moria if you were a bit cautious.

It works on XP too, as far as I know.
I actually own the original floppy version of this!
I might be able to give you guys a manual scan.
Boy, this game had one fantastic manual, in fact, it was good reading material before you went to sleep.

Pff, manual is already there.
Mine's better. :bleh:

Edit once again.
You call this a manual, it's just a text copy, :w00t: .
A scan would be much better, all those pictures!

The first part does, but the second part doesn't. The graphics screw up, and the only way of getting it to work is to select CGA graphics.<_<

Oh, would you scan and upload it? I lost mine, so all I've got now is a lousy text version. I'd love to have the real manual again...

Mmm, I'll try to get the scanner working again.
Just as long as you realize that the scan will take a loooong time, this manual is pretty big for it's time.

Yes, I remember it having about as many pages as the SimCity 2000 manual. Well, never mind, it'll probably take a while until it's added to the site as well; the box scans I did months ago are still not up yet... But it would be nice to have the scan of the manual on the site sometime.

I find there's one single walkthrough for this game remaining online, and it doesn't cover everything.

I found an apparent use for the Ice Staff from Withywindle's cave - in Moria, the very bottom level, with the Balrog's throne, if you approach the huge lava pool with some sort of pit in the middle, you get a message about the ice staff shooting out steam and letting you walk on lava. Unfortunately, if you continue to walk forward, you just plain die anyway. You also don't get the ice staff message from any other lava pool in the game. I've tried using everything i can think of; skill, item, or otherwise. Anyone have any idea what to do with this?

i know a little cheat/secret or so to make it easier at one point.

dont know if it still works, cause i havent reached that part on my new version of it, but it did when i used to play it.

ok, when you reach Rivindell, you pretty much fill up your party right? well, remove sam, and recruit Bilbo.(after getting sting from him, otherwise you cant get it.)

now you will face only one hydra when entering the mines of moria.

I missed the entire series when it in the shops!

Just wondering can they be downloades? Perhaps an idle rambling  in the dark?

Of all the people around here, I thought you had a good idea on what does ESA protection mean...

You might try the usual: checking the online stores linked to in a sticky thread somwhere around, second-hand purchase or, finally, contacting the copyright holder.
