Yeah, legalizing crime would help.

Or even better: Move all people off the earth. That should kill crime for good.

You could just infect everyone with parasites that turn everyone into mindless slaves of someone...

Or we could just turn everyone into zombies, that would kill crime most definitely...

Somebody had the same idea and made a picture of it.
However, this pic is made up to suggest that you can see our past, for example dinosaurs. This would require 1 mio years of travelling, setting up the mirror, and another 1 mio years after the mirror has started reflecting, for the light to come back to earth. So, it doesn't work like that but we could see in 2 mio years from now, well, what has happened today at earliest. uhm :)

PS: The mirror wouldn't necessarily have to be really big, 1 millimeter size would already do it.

you really are serious about the idea

Well we already have the mirrors installed on the moon, which increases the amount of detail the astronomers get from the telecopes. Installing them as far as it requires to travel for 2mio years in space would only need around 100+ years of progress here, after which we shall be able to travel that far in a short time :p

I don't think this would work. The mirror becomes smaller every meter your distance increases. (e.g. to see yourself in a mirror right next to you, it needs to be as big as you. But to see yourself fully in a mirror, which is 10 meter away, it only needs to be a few inches big) So, the reflecting in the original posters idea on Pluto's mirror is done by an area, which is smaller than a single atom.

I don't believe, that a single atom can reflect the whole planet earth's worth of lightrays. After all, even a mirror is made of matter like silver-coated metal.

I thought security cams were invented.

And everybody knows they really help against crime...:mhh:

For million years nothing happened, then security cams were invented. (Immediately succeeded by the invention of ski masks, about 3 milliseconds later.)
This was considered by many as a bad move, and made lots of people angry.
