Well, in case it's not above like 800 words you should've no trouble counting them yourself and excluding certain words yourself ;)

If however it is some kind of "book" you've written there, I don't have the slightest idea how to exclude words.

You could, however make a list (on paper) for every word that shouldn't be counted, then save another copy of the essay, search for every appearance of every word on your list, erase them all, and then look at the word count.

You could also tell your teacher they should go and *beep* themselves ;)

Just guess, no one will ever control it down to the last word, anyway.

If what has been said about it not counting mispelled words is correct, then you can use the find and repalce function (Ctrl-F) to replace all the "the"s into soemthing, then all the "etc"s into soemthing else. Then conut the words, then replace them back in the same way.

find (ctrl. F) ---> the

count them

repae for other words. once you count all the words you dont' want, deduct them from full word count and oyu will be left with words you wanted to count.

As if your teacher is going to sit and count each word... but just make sure that if he says that you have to have 600 words at least... you have 620 to make up for it.
