So.... guys can have it clipped and then fixed again so they can have babies later?
is that how it works?

If so, then I'm all for it!! But if it's permanent, then I don't know if it's a great idea unless they have children before..

Well there's always an option of storing sperm in a sperm bank before having it done - so even if it can't be reversed - one could still become the biological father.

That's REALLY expensive. So... I still don't think it's a good idea for a birth controll unless the man is at least over 25 years old, and is 110% sure he doesn't want babies.

It's reversable, with fewer potential complications than the female version. With females, untying the tubes can lead to fertilized eggs becoming attached to the wrong places, among other things. With males, it's more like you can just rehook them and they do their normal thing after the recovery process.

I was actually the product of the first reverse tubal ligation performed in Florida ^_^

I have lots of slides documenting my birth (they're really gross, actually - C-section birth)... back then, a reverse tubal ligation was unheard of, a sort of medical breakthrough, whee.

Well I'm slightly over 25, but Rainwife and I are planing on having babies (planing on 2 within next 5 years)... But at the latest, when I reach the age of 35 I'm having it done.
The only problem so far (but I'm sure until that time it will be solved) it's really a rare procedure here in Slovenia so I'd have to go abroad to have it done. hopefully by the time I have it done - it will be easy enoguh to get one here.

Actually, this is how it works here.

The day I become 25 it's Ke-Snippet! :w00t:

And the next week I'll be like

After that it's all :Brain:

EDIT: No, I don't want kids ;)

Blood-Pigggy 22-09-2005 08:15 PM

In my honest opinion it seems quite inhuman.

Well in that case you wouldn't even have to wait until you reach 25 (which is next year for you right?).

@Blood-Piggy: WHY? Inhumane would be choping the entire region off - ball and sausage :butcher:
This is just a quick fix - and it's even reversable!

And guys, from what I hear, vasectomies are not so bad, recovery-wise
This is absolutely true. (Sorry, would've posted sooner, but we had a fire drill at work, so I've been standing in the sweltering parking lot with several hundred of my coworkers for the past 30 minutes.) Some time after the birth of our second child, my wife and I decided that I'd have a vasectomy. Yeah, I was a little scared - the thought of sharp objects messing around Down There isn't a pleasant one - but there really wasn't anything to be worried about. The whole procedure took about 20 minutes, and I was only given a local anesthetic. Recovery wasn't bad either. I had it done on a Friday morning, spent the weekend off my feet per the surgeon's recommendation, and was back at work on Monday. I was given a prescription for hard-core painkillers just in case, but I never took anything stronger than ibuprofen. There was a bit of pain in the first few days after the procedure (especially when walking up or down stairs), and I was told not to pick up anything too heavy for a week or two, but that's it. A month later, I took a "sample" <ahem> back to the doctor's office so they could check for signs of life. There were still a few movers and shakers in there, so I came back again in another month and was given the all-clear.

with no negative side effects regarding the actual act of sex.
Yep, I can vouch for this too. I will say no more than that. :D

Sebatianos 22-09-2005 08:24 PM

FPJ - thanks you for sharing that experiance. I never met someone who went true with it - but as I've decided to undergo the procedure (after I become a father) your posts are really helpfull. You just reashured me about my decision. :ok:
