I liked the bit in the opening ceremony with all the fiddlers and tap dancers dressed in Scottish punky clothes.

Other than that the winter Olympics aren't really relevant for me since it never snows where I live.... Too coastal or something like that. I think we do have a bob sled team though. But that's probably just because of Cool Runnings.

Yeah Tulac, did you see the race, I was like "He's gonna win, He's gonna win" from the beginning when he was finished, and my dad was like "No way, it'll be good if he's 15th". SO IN YO FACE DAD! :smug:

Just for being at the Olympics is a huge thing for those athletes. We've yet to win a medal (hopefully in women's cross-country and/or women's slalom) but even if they don't, they have my respect.

Your expectations were made too high, even the bronze was a surprise and the weather helped then too.

Well, we got the bronze in Women's individual sprint, despite Majdic's 4 broken ribs and lung puncture. What the hell is going on at these olympics? There are injuries in every discipline and one athlete died before they even started the whole thing.

I don't have any statistics on hand, but I would imagine injuries in the winter Olympics are fairly common. I mean, these are pretty dangerous sports, with the possible exception of curling...although those stones are quite heavy.

Fubb 18-02-2010 09:25 PM

curling IS dangourous. Everythime we had to curl in school, i hurt my self.

The last time i curled (2 years ago) like 5 minutes after we started i slipped, landed on my face (before anything else landed) and got the biggest bloody nose and lip ive ever had. I FUCKING HATE CURLING.
