Indy4 was one of my favorites when I was still a little kid (under 8 years). I'm Finnish, so I didn't understand what the characters said, what stood in The lost dialogue of Plato or what was the story of the game back then. Had just to try everything to get forward... I also didn't know anything about the blocking system in fist fights, but sooner or later I still managed to floor most of the nazis (+the doorman in the beginning). I had lots of fun nevertheless :D I played the game through, at least through one path, and I tried all the three paths (eventhough it was hard for me to know which option lead to which path xD)

Anyway, three weeks ago I started to play Indy4 again. I surprisingly remembered almost everything, at least in some measure, making it easy to play the game through through all the three paths. I also understood almost everything of the story, dialoques etc. I managed to reach 979 IQ points later during this week. I had beaten Hans with and without the tourist lie (without the cheat punch ofcourse), which had taken many hours. Today I finally managed to beat Arnold (the huge nazi) in a fist fight, giving me 10 points more (989 now). I didn't even know for sure if Arnold was beatable, but after about 24 hours of training in total (I fought him now and then during the three weeks), I finally reached high enough skill level and beat him. I think I belong to the global lower elite of Indy4 boxers now :brain: :titan:

But there's still at least one step ahead... I need to get those last 10/11 points :/
And I badly fear it is to beat Fritz, the guard of the jail, the Olympic gold boxer 1932 (If I remember right), and that of 1948 too, after each finished fight I have with him. My current record (after fighting him for several hours) is that I have done quite exactly 50% of the damage needed. So I'm not even close.

Grnik, you have reached the incredible 999 points, so could you please give me some hints if you happen to read this? So did you beat Fritz in a fist fight to get the full score? If you did, what kind of strategy did you use and how long did you train (I really hope it isn't over 90% of those 3 years...)? I hope you didn't have to hack/slow down the game... I would also like to know if some dialogue choices make it slightly easier to beat him. Ofcourse, also help from others in the highest elite of indy4 boxing is highly welcome. Thanks in advance.

This is my favourite game of all times! I have spend thousands (literally) of hours playing this game trying to achieve a perfect score. If you press the button I you will see that everytime you solve a puzzle you get some points. Many puzzles have two or more solutions. So if you load and solve the puzzle in a different way you will get the extra points. If you no solve ALL puzzles with ALL different ways and you play ALL 3 different paths (action, wits, team), then you can achieve the full score of 999 points. I managed to do so within 3 years. After that I have played the game a couple more times. It is a HUGE game with hundreds of different locations.
The scenario is simply amazing. It should certainly be the fourth Indy movie. I do agree that such old games should be given for free. However, I always buy games that really entertained me. I have a collection of at least 100 games and I bought ALL of them only after I had played and finished the copied version. I just know how to appreciate the good work;)
I recommend it 100%. Just play all 3 different ways. (Save right at the scene in Marcus' office where you are asked if you would like to continue alone or in a team or with more action and then when you finish the first way, reload and play an almost totally different game following the other path)..Ahh good old times....

The switches are the left and right. Then when the things go green, pull the button LOL (why? because you CAN)

That's not true. When I try to pull the button, our good friend Indy quite clearly says 'You don't pull a button'. Afterwards, the machine is not activated.

Hehe I've now beaten Fritz in a fist fight without cheats, and reached 1000 total IQ points (999 wasn't the maximum like Grnik thought xD). I bet many of these guys who have gotten more than 992 IQ points have beaten Fritz only with cheats, like changing variables in the debug mode. I did that too first, but later, I finally managed to do it without, after something like 2000-3000 tries :)

IQ Points

Hey. Someone helpful here?

Decided to play FOA again after watching the new disappointing movie.

I have never achieved a perfect score so that is my aim this time. The thing is I am not sure how to acumulate all the points from completed paths. Every time I start over I have 0 points. Have tried restarting, watching the end and waiting for it to restart itself, loading a saved game (in the office with Sophia). Nothing seem to work.

I currently use the talkie version of the game. It says that maximum points are 941 (isn't it supposed to be 1000?).

The Fifth Horseman 03-06-2008 04:24 PM

1000 is the maximum in the floppy version.

What should I run the sound settings at? I have the talkie version, but fine if it has to be off for good sound quality.

dosraider 16-06-2008 06:44 AM

I use soundblaster with the talkie version.
A 220 - I 7 - D 1
Works fine, dosbox 0.72, default config.

I have seen the last Indy movie: this game's script is waaay better.

Machiavelli 16-06-2008 09:28 PM

Is there a guide with a breakdown of the points? Whole lot to ask, but just thought it might be around.

Scatty 16-06-2008 09:54 PM

This one might help you a bit.
