Anyone know where I can get a copy of the manual for this game? Or can someone explain to me how the approval rating system at service stations works? Usually the highest rating I can get is about 70% and thats with trains, cars, and airplanes moving in and out non-stop, however, the computer rarely gets a low rating no matter how long his goods are waiting at a station.

The best way I've found to get higher rating (especially with trains) is to have stations with more than one stop. The lowerst is one and the highest is 4. That way you can have more than 75/80% if your trains are loading non stop all the time.

The tutorials don't work and I've never played. If there a way to pause the game whilst building? The time goes really fast and if you need to change the landscape a lot of time is wasted.

I don't think there was a way to pause the game while building. But usually at the start of the game you'll quickly run out of money when building new tracks, buying new ships, etc.
I've never felt the game went too fast, except maybe towards the end when a lot of vehicles (in its broadest sense) need replacing.

You can't pause the game when building. But beleive me, once you get the hang out of it you won't think it's going too fast. :)

You can build while paused.

You guys should really get the latest patch : www.ttdpatch.net

If you don't try PBS (path based signalling) you never believe it's possible.

2586!!!??? Is there a point to play that long? I usually get bored very quick as soon as I hit year 2k...

That long ?

I'm at 3010 right now. :D
I'm a optimizations freek.
I spent hours to optimize a junction.
Then when it's done the game has shifted the production so I need th move trains to other parts of the map with the result of near lockups on the other side of the map.
Then I have to "optimze" another junction.
And this goes on an on and on.....

btw I have now some 448 trains running in this game, and it's getting a bit slow.

Error: "1033" is a bs language which was defined in some environment variable. You can choose from English, Spanish, etc with lang=english and such.
This is a fun thing that XP (at least) does...they changed an environment variable from the "english" version of a langauge name to a numeric code (universal standards...blahblahblah...)

What you need to do is use Windows to reset that language variable (which may make other apps not work right) or setup a bat file to launch the game. In the transport tycoon folder, create a new text file named "ttd.bat". Make sure it renames, you should get a cutesy little "application" type icon representing a batch file instead of a notepad icon.

In this file add the following lines:

SET LANG=English
"Transport Tycoon Deluxe".exe

Then launch that file (or create a shortcut to it).
