Splinter Cell is the best stealth game ever made.
The atmosphere doesnt have to be funny or laughable...
This is the game that keeps stealth games alive.

I don't agree with you. Best stealth game is Thief : The Dark Project. It had great atmosphere, dark and fantasy. It wasn't a funny, colourful game. Splinter Cell has got boring, political fiction plot which I hate  . And it was to easy. Sam also has got to many gadgets.

i agree with unholy, although i am not a fan of the stealth genre

Thief was an alright game, but for being a stealth game it had it's high points, I didn't really like though when they tried to make it third person, with the latest one.

What do you expect Sam Fisher to work for? The Easter bunny?
Seriously, the gadgets arent much and you have to use them wisely.
P.S."It had great atmosphere, dark and fantasy" if it had that than it couldnt have been a normal stealth game, it has to be intense and - come on - fantasy? If it was too easy, try "hard" difficulty.

Thief was so awesome, especially when you played it on hard. There was nothing worse than a graveyard or crypt mission on hard. All that zombie moaning while poor Garret was creaping around and trying to find "his" loot. I remember loading up on flashbombs every time I had even a remote possibility to encounter zombies. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

-re-edit- I've really gotta read the topic more carefully... the games that I hate that everyone else loves have gotta be Civilization and the Diablo series. I don't hate the gameplay nor the concept, it's the huge amount of time that I lose to these games that makes me hate them.

I really don't like Diablo 1 & 2, Duke Nuke'Em, <whatever> - Fortress.

Elliman 14-03-2005 09:46 PM

My dislikes are as follows:

Morrowind, 'cause I don't like havig to run for aprox. 10 min. to get from town to town. Also it was just to complex for me, I like'em simple.

Neverwinter, it is, as has been said, to dark, and makes your eyes ache, and I jus found the storyline boring.

GTA series, I just never understood the fun in being in a car and driving in circles while shooting and running people over.(Although I feel obliged to say that I simply love Carmageddon :ok: )
And last but not least, Doom1&2, Quake1&2,Blood and others alike, I'm just not into FPS with poor graffics.(Again, I do love Duke Nuke'm though :max: )

they should try playing halo 2 1 on 1 with a friend, no shields active, pistols + energy swords, no regenerating ammo, no grenades whatsoever, no overshields or camo, no vehicles and a small map like beaver creek. then you will apperciate why halo 2 is good :D.
... so take the engine, and remove all that makes it Halo then?

As FPS go, I haven't played better than Flashpoint; although America's Army comes close.

I was incredibly disappointed with Escape Velocity - and that has a huge following; I just didn't see what all the fuss was about

Yeah, I don't like this two either but i forgot about them. Neverwinter is very boring, each chapter looks the same (three or for locations where you have to find something), there are changed D&D rules (like this stupid items you can wear only if reached some level), game have too many fights and you xp only from fighting. It's not a cRPG, it's a more boring sister of Diablo or Dungeon Siege. Morrowind also was very boring for me. The action was too slow, and the world was to big. I don't like games which I must play four months non-stop to finish them. One month is a good lenght :D
