How do you know if the versions of Monkey Island 1 & 2 on a CD are shovelware (floppy versions) or the real enhanced CD versions? I've found a couple of people auctioning off Monkey Island 1& 2 on CD's but it doesn't say what version it is. I've asked, but the sellers doesn't know either.

I think there is one with enhanced sound... FM-version or whatever. I'm not sure.

But wasn't that FM Towns thingy some sort of console? In that case it could hardly be on a regular CD... About Monkey Island 1, you could ask the seller if it says anything about the release date on the box. According to this article, the enhanced version was released in 1992, so it should say so somewhere.
