iStar ^^^ I have the exact same issue. Funny thing is, the same thing happens if I'm using DOSBox and enter the full screen mode. But after a second it disappears and the DOSBox pops up, except for X-COM. I noticed in the game review that Kosta mentioned a patch: "It goes together with a patch that fixes graphic problems on Windows XP and some other system platforms." But doesn't say anything about where this patch is located.

Lord_Scather My X-Com doesn't run very smooth....every five seconds or so I have a one-second lag. I think this is because i run it under Windows ME and the game won't run with DOSBox, so I use MoSlo. But oddly, it only lags with x-com and sequel, with other games, it works just fine!

I also tried to set the cpu to different speeds (using MoSlo), but it's always the same.

This is quite annoying, because it causes wrong clicks when doing standard clicking procedures (meaning buying/selling, setting up base facilities...)

Any suggestions?

addition: i tried both games in normal dos-window....still lags! Now what's that supposed to mean?

BeefontheBone Actually this has been mentioned before (happens to me, for instance) with TFT monitors - read the UFO thread for a possible solution.

Eagle of Fire That's a problem with either your monitor or your drivers. Try to update your graphic drivers or try to play with the height and other settings on your monitor and check if it help.

If you are trying to run the DOS version then by all mean download and use DOSBox. It should solve your problem.

Guest_Joe Everytime I try to start the game, it actually starts, but I cannot see it. I hear the music, however the screen is black and I get a message that pops up saying "frequency out of range" V: 29.1 H: 69.9 The message is monitor induced, but I do not know how to get around it. Please help if you can.
