...and I thought this means "when did you start playing: back at CGA days or in more recent VGA days". Or what was your first rig. Mine was Hercules with monochrome monitor, so I picked VGA |

EGA had a special something but VGA was obviously the more desirable. EGA worked very well with oldies like Leisure Suit Larry 3, Space Quest 3, etc. but it were mostly adventure games that seemed to work well with it. That said, give me VGA any time when the choice was there. Oh, and did you guys know: many people make the mistake in thinking CGA, EGA & VGA were respectively 4, 16 and 256 colours but that's not true. They were actually tied to the resolution. A 320x200 resolution would indeed allow for those colours but a VGA card could only display 16 colours at 640x480. EGA could display 4 colours at 640x480. That's why the earlier high resolution games were stuck with few colours. |
