jffe version seems to be closer original graphic. yeah there are a couple of fixes in ini files that will rbing down the quality if you are having an older computer. but i must say i enjoyed this game even with original graphics. i did miss a bit better sound effects. heh all this checking out i just had to pick up those minig maschines form the planet. i left them there loooooooong time ago and then played a lot and then leaving the game for quite some time... i never did the coded missions though. but sometimes i just like to go to other planets, land on them and observe the sunrise or planetrise in fast forward... |

Yeah, anyways I'm a bit dissapointed that I can't use this glffe because of the lack of opengl 2.0 support. BAH! #!#¤%!@!!!! Darn! I never miss things but I have overlooked again and just found that there's that modification what makes glffe run on my computer. It's choppy when i'm looking at the planet. Going to try to fix that. |

Seriously - it appears we need to update the arhive on the site. http://www.frontierastro.co.uk/DOSBox/DOSBox.html DOS BOX .72 does not work with the arhive currently on the site. As explained on this site above it needs a small file to make it work (i still need to test that). This one is for frontier, but it might work for first enc as well. Another thing we could do is also put up the archive which already incudes all files and fixes for openGL version of elite first encounters: http://www.frontierastro.co.uk/Hires/hiresffe.html |

Ah.. Darn I was on that site. Didn't look down until now. Well I did found that jjffe program and was able to finally take a look at this game.. Wow! Man, this game has been my dream for a long time! This game feels much better than those crappy today space games. You can LITERALLY go to the planet surface throught the atmosphere. This game seriously beats that new Orbiter simulator where everything can go 90% wrong and has only Sol system while this old fart (in a good way) has more systems than one and better control over your ship! |

Uh.. I can't find any different version of that game and that DosBox 0.58 version wasn't the one which would make that game work. Any older versions than 0.58 somewhere? |

Try going as far back as 0.61 Also, try a different copy of the game. |

Thanks for the link but older versions didn't help at all. |

If you want older versions: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=46709 You can install any older version, it will install in another folder and create his own startmenu. [Edit] BTW, should you have an adapted dosbox configuration file (mount lines, whatevers....) do NOT copy/paste it onto older versions, won't work. Edit the conf file manually and input the changes you wish. |

Frontier First Encounters.. Not Working I have the same problem with this game. When I start the game in dosbox and I press 'Y' in that window/text what comes up usually and then the intro starts playing and after the intro that same intro starts playing again :weird:  and after that texts in big font about errors come up running down fast and dosbox is freezed. |
