I think this was already discussed in the past.... At Abandonia's rate of traffic you're looking at 3-5 TB a month, and depending on the platform or framework its written in, you'd need a dedicated server with a fast opteron/xeon with, least 2GB of ram and a RAID drive configuration since HDD seek times are quite a bottleneck. I can't tell you the costs of hosting or which service we use but a good resource, where I found all the servers for Abandonia so far is http://www.webhostingtalk.com Look under dedicated server offers, they have some good specials and deals |

Yepps... we'r slightly over "break even", and the "leftovers" goes as competitions. Income: ads and donations Expences: Servers and occasional competitions. That's pretty much how it looks. Unfortunally, the servers are bleeding expencive Why can't there be a host that offers: 200 GB storage, 100/100 Mbit and unmeterd transfere @ 100€ / month? Seems fair to me |
