Kosta I think this was already discussed in the past....
At Abandonia's rate of traffic you're looking at 3-5 TB a month, and depending on the platform or framework its written in, you'd need a dedicated server with a fast opteron/xeon with, least 2GB of ram and a RAID drive configuration since HDD seek times are quite a bottleneck. I can't tell you the costs of hosting or which service we use but a good resource, where I found all the servers for Abandonia so far is http://www.webhostingtalk.com
Look under dedicated server offers, they have some good specials and deals

Unfortunally, the servers are bleeding expencive
Why can't there be a host that offers: 200 GB storage, 100/100 Mbit and unmeterd transfere @ 100€ / month? Seems fair to me
[/b]
Which brings me to another question, which hosting service are you using and how is it actually costing you guys? And how much gb data transfer is going through each month? (sorry for all the questions, just gathering an idea of how much this would run me if i were to do something similar...)

Nope, it just took off in 2004

TheChosen Wasn't Abandonia a warez site when it became online?

Titan Yepps... we'r slightly over "break even", and the "leftovers" goes as competitions.

Income: ads and donations

Expences: Servers and occasional competitions.

That's pretty much how it looks.

Reup Are you the one who asked the same question in the Wikipage:Talk on Wikipedia?

Yes. And occasional donations. All of the money goes into the hosting and the competitions.

Do they make enough to pay for the hosting services?
