wrong game Yea, this is not Halls of Montezuma - this is panzer Battles. Only the menu screen looks similiar, but the actual gameplay is quite different as HoM was released in 1988, not 1990. |

Unregister | The install program is for MacArthur's War, but there is no executable MAW. |

The actual game in archive is Panzer Battles, not Halls of Montezuma They look similar because they use the same engine, but it looks like the downloadable archive is Panzer Battles, not Halls of Montezuma. They are from the same publisher, with similar interface, but not the same game. |

Being a Hun myself (or Kraut that is, for our transatlantic friends) and then too young to understand that those earth-coloured guys only wanted to liberate my greys (and the Germans having much cooler uniforms anyway) I always played the grey guys of course. Actually the guys in khaki with the upside down soup plate on their head were much tougher than the guys in olive - don't know why. Maybe due to lack of air support. Because - and that was the funny thing - whenever the brown guys started to win, two Messerschmidts appeared out of the blue and totally overwhelmed the enemy and destroyed the single Spitfire that unfortunately had to land to refuel right before the completely unexpected attack. They never had a chance, especially when my mum called for lunch. I lost interest in the whole thing shortly before landing troops in Washington because my grandfather finally made me realize that war was not that much fun on either side. However, I stopped realizing that when Panzer General was published. And I did invade Washington after all. So the author of the review was right and I also liked his pro and con list for the unpatient reader. |
