red_avatar | I bought Ishar 1-3 for next to nothing nearly a decade ago. I bought them because I used to see my friend playing Ishar 3 on his PC years before and I must say, while the games do look reasonably good, the first two games pretty much stink. They're really not easy, they throw you in the deep end, you don't have a map and you can easily get lost because everything feels familiar, etc. |

Mike_G | Apparently the best way to kill the last boss is to unequip your weapons of and beat him with your hands. Worked for me, but that was a long time ago.... |

I don't know if anyone comes here anymore, but I finally won this game tonight. Here are some tips that might help. - Krogh seems to randomly be invulnerable for a short period of time. Just hit him five or so times and then the magic sword will start to work. Some attempts, he was not invulnerable at all. - You don't need the rune tablets to win, especially not the one in the forgotten house. It is way too much trouble, and they don't do much of anything. Just use invuln. potions (see below). - To get the sword in the stone, you have to have a party member with no experience points. I used the princess, but gave it to Aramir. - The southern (I believe) entrance to Elwing fortress is a perfect place to level and get rich. Just walk in and out the door after each battle. There are agility, intelligence, and wisdom trainers nearby, as well as the best shop in the game and spells. - 22 points was the max I got my stats. Aramir was at 22 on strength, agility, and 20 at wisdom and intell. Strength is the most expensive, and the only one I could find was way back in the first town. I'd get a couple hundred thousand gold and head back there. Thanks to the ease of loading saves with Dosbox, if you get extremely unlucky with stat gains, just reload and try again. - The cleric Obarman is not as important as walkthroughs make him out to be. His resurrection spell never even worked for me (not sure if it was a glitch or what). If you lose him or don't want to get him, don't worry about it. I ended up killing him and keeping Aramir with the de-charm potion, and I'm very glad I did. - Krogh is easy. Save after you kill the last of the three wizards, and then make yourself an invulnerability potion. Give it to Aramir, and go to work. I was dealing out 920 damage a shot. Everyone else died, though, but I won easily. Second time, I realized I had enough materials to make three potions, so I kept Kreylia (sp?) (the priest) and Dorian (the other priest), but neither did anything useful. Make sure you make Aramir's last so it stays around long enough to win. I believe the ingriedients are 1 salamander oil, 1 gargoyle claw, 1 rat brian, and 1 dried mistletoe. - The dragon didn't deal me any damage, even though it kept popping up on my guys' faces. I think it might have been a glitch, but it's the same everytime. Damage numbers come up, but there is no decrease in hp. Hope this helps. If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. Edit: I forgot to add that if your casters get inverted, don't worry about it. I think everyone but Aramir was inverted when I won it. It doesn't effect spells, and you don't need a backup warrior for Krogh anyway. If your main guy does get afflicted with it, just reload. I saved after every wizard to be safe. |

Mouse drivers for DOS? I'll look around for my old one. What specific soundcard have you got? Are you sure you set the adress and interrupt correctly in the setup? As for the joystick... well, never used one myself, but I think you're right about the drivers. Plug&Play came much later. |

Guest | This is quite a complex game for an early DOS classic with all those keyboard commands. I would love to use my mouse with this interface, but unfortunately don't have a mouse driver for DOS... can anyone direct me to a link for this? Would the mouse make combat substantially easier? Also, in the setup screen I distinctly select Soundblaster for my soundcard, but the sound effects always come through my little computer speaker - with no way to adjust volume to my knowledge.... any helpful suggestions? - oh, and the joystick interface don't work either despite their being one connected at the back of the computer... don't tell me it ALSO needs to be a DOS driver! |

Warm Tear ! My name is Dariusz Maria Krzywicki and I would like to share with you with something wich I was making for last three days . I remember those evenings when was winter outside and I travelled through lands of Kendoria . It was many years ago but I still feel the spirit of Ishar so I decided to enchant that feeling in music ... I managed to download old tracker modules From Ishar , Ishar 2 and Ishar 3 and remove the dust and make brilant from diamond . Songs from Ishar and Ishar 3 I transfered to MIDI Files , it was hard because of many bugs which occured during conversion process , I tried to remove them as well as possible and apply good quality tones . In Ishar 2 I decided to make leave it in module format but I changed all samples for new ones . After all I mixed it and stored in mp3 format . I dedicate my work for everyone who feels same spirit of magic , sword , honour and romantism which is included in that wonderful , beyond time game . Run EMULE and find „ ISHAR RESSURECTION ... . RAR” ( the file contains complete 15 songs form Ishar 1 ,2 , 3 in new edition ... ) Greetings For Silmarilan Gods ! |
