There is a manual available on site, at the same download page than you got the game. It states that saving goes by CTRL-S. Try that and come back here if it still don't work. |

Ryn | Admittedly I am trying to change the read-only attribute while I'm still running the game, which might be why it continues to default back to read-only....Should I simply give up on maintaining my game progress and close the program before trying to mess with things? |

Can't save in Ultima: Martian Dreams So, I started playing Martian Dreams today by running it in DOSBOX 0.74, absolutely no problem... until it gets to saving the game. I thought it would be like in previous games, by hitting the "q" key, but that only produced a "What?" from the interface. Hitting the "s" key was the same. I hit every single key on my keyboard but it did not at any point say Game Saved or anything similar. The SAVEGAME subfolder remains read-only even if you untick it, though the files within it are not read-only. I tried setting it to non-read-only via the normal Windows Explorer interface, and also the "Total Commander" program via a suggestion from the internet, but it still defaults back to read-only. I'm using Windows XP. I don't want to close the game and lose all the progress I made in order to check if the save function worked regardless of the "What?" response, so does anyone know if this is a huge bug (of either the Martian Dreams game itself or DOSBOX) or how to fix it? |
