Error: "1033" is a bs language which was defined in some environment variable. You can choose from English, Spanish, etc with lang=english and such.
This is a fun thing that XP (at least) does...they changed an environment variable from the "english" version of a langauge name to a numeric code (universal standards...blahblahblah...)

What you need to do is use Windows to reset that language variable (which may make other apps not work right) or setup a bat file to launch the game. In the transport tycoon folder, create a new text file named "ttd.bat". Make sure it renames, you should get a cutesy little "application" type icon representing a batch file instead of a notepad icon.

In this file add the following lines:

SET LANG=English
"Transport Tycoon Deluxe".exe

Then launch that file (or create a shortcut to it).

chainsoar How rude. Two word posts are bad so here's some shameless filler.

Guest did you two actually read anything i said in my two posts?
If you did you would have discovered that the transportycoondeluxe.exe or whatever just opens a dos window that immediately closes, also that rebooting doesnt change anything.. I got the opensource version and it works fine though, so thanks anyway for tryin to help :bleh:

chainsoar Don't run GameGFX.exe - that's the wrong file. Run Transport Tycoon Deluxe.exe. Also, you will probably find the game has issues with saving when you start playing. To fix this, open ttdpatch.cfg and delete the line that says something about saving, I don't remember exactly what. All fixed.

Data try doing what it told in that config box ?

Anyway try rebooting as well.

Eagle of Fire You need to run the .reg file then restart your computer.

Make sure you don't move or rename the game directory once you run the .reg file or you will probably need to run it again to make the game work.

phil74501 It says "In order to successfully start Transport Tycoon Deluxe
you will need to import the registry file in this
directory!" What does that mean? What registry file?
